What is the best way for potty training at 2 years, the dog if you do not want to crate train?
I have a Maltese and the wee pads hit or miss above all to lose. I work irregular hours so I suppose that wee pads and litter boxes are just my choices? The problem w / Crate Training for me is especially that my dog barks continuously confining and if I live in a very quiet building.
I do not agree with rubbing my nose in it. When were potty trained, I doubt you'd've understand why someone was rubbing their noses in your poop or pee – understands why a dog? Confinement is really the only answer I know of. Automotically the dog does not understand what the wee pad is. If you disagree with the use of a box, what about an x-pen (4 'by 4' pen) as a compromise. Otherwise, you must use a very small bathroom or block a small area of a room. I have a Yorkie-mix that can not (or not) hold while I'm at work, so it remains in an x-pen. In one corner, I put a pee pad, next to the ramp is peeing his crate (door left open), and in front of the case, it is his water bowl. In an area so small, that will use the pee pad. If the ride home, he will everywhere he is like. When you are at home with your dog, make sure that he / she never leaves the view. Get him / her on a schedule, and the reward, prize, reward when he / she does it well. Do not confuse the dog, trying to potty train both outside and pee on the pads.
