It is mold on the outside-bottom of the wooden crate dangerous for my dog?
I built a crate for my dog. It 's basically a big box Wood (with plenty of ventilation) and a Plexiglas door. He dribbles too much so I decided to place a sheet of Plexiglas on the inner side-down to keep the wood Strain / molding. However, when I turned the whole case as well as change some bolts I noticed some mildew stains have already appeared on the bottom of the outer- cash. There is no visible mold inside the enclosure where the dog resides only on the outer bottom. Now that I attached and sealed, the sheet of plexiglass inside- lower case, is the mold on the outside of a danger to my dog? Thanks. I should also note that this is high quality wood smooth. I do not want to give the impression I pushed my dog in a small box made of wood. In fact why not just replace that side is because the materials are so expensive.
It 'should not be a problem. You'll definitely want to seal the bottom panel (of course) a couple of layers of paint to keep the problem from getting worse (I would like to clean parts with a musty mixture of water and bleach or vinegar if you are maybe just wary of bleach in advance). I'd also consider adding feet to the cashier to lift off the ground to avoid any more to grow. You could probably use some wood blocks, but I'd go with those of metal (I think that you can get the replacement metal foot sofa from Ikea or any furniture store).
